Caryn Bills

Caryn Bills has 30 years of experience at UIC and given her extensive and distinguished career, was appointed to Associate Chancellor, effective January 24, 2013. She began in OAE in 2000 and was appointed Director in 2008. During her time at OAE, she created OAE's Dispute Resolution Services (DRS), which she continues to oversee, and is a certified mediator. From 1986 through 2000, she served in the Office for Student Affairs as UIC's first Ombudsperson (1989 through 2000) and as Director of Campus Relations (1994 through 2000).

Caryn holds a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Keana Galloway

Keana M. Galloway was promoted to Assistant Director in 2011 and to Associate Director in 2013.  As Associate Director, she is responsible for overseeing the University's Affirmative Action Plans, Search Waiver review and the Academic Hiring process, including developing strategies related to recruitment and retention of women, persons of color, persons with disabilities, veterans, and members of other under-represented groups.  Keana supervises OAE's Equal Opportunity Officer and other staff as well as oversees OAE's budget.

Keana joined the Office for Access and Equity in 2006 as the Project Management Specialist and has served as the Liaison to the Chancellor's Status Committees. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Master's Degree in Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Michael Diaz

Michael Diaz joined the Office for Access and Equity in August 2016. Michael is an attorney who has previously worked as a Claims Analyst for the Office for Access and Equity. For the past eight years he has worked with Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Banking as the Director of the Division's Legal Department.

Michael received his JD at Loyola University School of Law and his M.ED. and BA from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Sue McCarthy

Sue McCarthy, UIC's Title IX Coordinator, brings over 25 years of experience and leadership working to establish equity, empower others and end gender violence. Prior to coming to UIC in the Fall of 2016, Sue worked at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (UWM) from 2003-16, serving first as the Assistant Director and then as the Director of the Women's Resource Center. While at UWM, Sue provided critical leadership of the Chancellor's Task Force on Sexual Violence Prevention, Reporting and Response. Her earlier career in family therapy focused on parenting, relationships, family violence, child abuse and neglect.

Sue received her M.ED. in Community Counseling from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia and her BA in Social Work and Sociology from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.

Danielle Earls

Danielle Earls has a J.D. from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and a B.A. in Communication from the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to joining the Office for Access and Equity in April 2016, Danielle was an assistant general counsel for six years at Kaplan Test Prep in Chicago, Illinois and New York, New York. While working for Kaplan, Danielle managed state and federal regulatory compliance related to Kaplan's higher education institutions, and provided counsel to the company on risk management, transactional, and employment law matters.

Amy Truelove

Amy Truelove joined the Office for Access and Equity in January 2016. As the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Title IX and Equity Compliance Specialist, she is responsible for investigating all forms of sexual misconduct and interpersonal violence claims. Amy Truelove received her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy from Indiana University, Bloomington. She has over 28 years in investigative experience while working for the U.S Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights-Chicago.

Yesenia Gutierrez

Yesenia (Jesse) has been with the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) since 1995. She began at OAE in 2007 and currently serves as Secretarial Assistant to the Associate Chancellor and Director for OAE. She assists in coordinating OAE's Dispute Resolution Services, UIC's Presidential Task Force and Faculty and Staff Response Team. Jesse is currently attending Harold Washington College and working towards her Associate degree. She intends to pursue her Bachelor's Business Administration at UIC.

Kathy Irving

Kathy R. Irving joined the Office for Access and Equity in July 2012. As the new Assistant Equal Opportunity Officer, she is responsible for providing oversight and assistance with the Academic Hiring Search process. She also serves as a resource to units and search committees during all phases of the recruitment and hiring process. Additionally, Kathy coordinates and monitors OAE's Dispute Resolution Services.

Kathy received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Human Resources from DePaul University. She has more than 18 years of human resources experience from a major Chicago University.

Chorlatte Mack

Chorlatte began at the Office for Access and Equity in July 2010 and currently serves as the Administrative Assistant to the OAE staff. She assists the Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Title IX Coordinators with the Title IX investigations and intends to become a Title IX Investigator. Chorlatte graduated from UIC with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Law and Justice in May 2013. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Governor’s State University.
