Response: As of January 26, 2009, the posting requirement has been reduced from three weeks to two weeks for internal searches. All positions are required to be posted on the UIC Job Board.
Response: The posting time for external searches remains at a minimum of three weeks. In addition to posting in external media, all positions are automatically added to the UIC Job Board, the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium and ChicagoDiversity.com.
Response: Yes. The Position Authorization Form is not required by OAE, however this form may be required by your Dean or Executive Officer before starting the search.
Response: No. Units may choose to use online sources only.
For an External Search, in addition to posting in external media, all positions are also required to be posted in the UIC Employment Center. A diverse and qualified applicant pool is the desired outcome of any advertising effort.
Response: Yes. OAE should be informed of the unit's selected candidate for hire, start date, and salary. Also, OAE should be informed of all candidates who decline offers. Just a reminder, that the meets minimum qualifications list along with proof of advertising should be submitted to OAE for approval prior to scheduling interviews.
Response: OAE reviews the Requests for Waiver of the Search Process and supporting documentation and will make a decision on a case by case basis.
Response: Due to the budget constraints, state funded visiting positions may be extended up to three years. In support of research opportunities enabled by the federal economic stimulus package, the three-year term limit now is extended to five years for those contract/grant (soft-funded) visiting positions requiring a five-year commitment. In addition, searches or waivers are required for Academic Visiting Appointments as of 08/16/2012.
